The Agency provides assistance to individuals and families of all ages residing in the State of New Jersey. It fosters affordable housing and helps people avert crises of daily living, which are often a result of their age, health, or socio-economic status.



About the Organization

Life Management, Inc. is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization that was initiated in March 1997. The Agency was established following a request from an Essex County Superior Court Judge to create the County’s first Guardianship Monitoring Program (GMP). The Program trained volunteers to follow-up on the care of adults who had been adjudicated incapacitated by the Court. The Guardianship Monitoring Program was akin to the Division of Youth and Family Services, but focused on the protection and care of persons over the age of 18. Life Management’s intervention and assistance offered oversight and protection to the most vulnerable population. Since its inception, Life Management, Inc. has evolved to continue on its journey to help people live safely in the community and thrive. Within a few years of its creation, Life Management, Inc. had also obtained contracts to provide social services to residents of affordable housing and to administer the Gatekeeper Project, the Phone Alert Program, Community Partners for Neighbors in Need, and the Senior Home Repair Program of Essex County. In addition to the aforementioned programs and services, Life Management, Inc. started providing private geriatric care management services, best interest evaluations for the Court, and guardianship training programs that have been run primarily in Essex County, but also in other locations throughout the State. After a few very busy years, Life Management, Inc. was also awarded a contract via the State of New Jersey and the County of Essex to provide over a million dollars of repairs to older adults whose homes sustained damage from hurricanes Irene and Sandy. Currently, Life Management, Inc. continues to work with the County in providing home repairs and maintenance services to older adult homeowners and caregivers, providing services to a growing number of families living in affordable housing, and is initiating a WellNest Center. The Senior Home Repair Program of Essex County has been funded by the Essex County Division of Senior Services since the year 2000. The County has entrusted Life Management, Inc. with two to three grants per year to provide home repairs and maintenance services to targeted older adults and caregivers. Also, since 1998, the Agency has been working with RPM Development Group to foster affordable housing in New Jersey, and is contracted to provide social services and a variety of programs and activities to RPM’s residents. In 2023, Life Management, Inc. will be initiating a WellNest Center that will educate and expose members of the community to tools and resources that will enhance their body, mind and spirit.
